Mission JC: A Day Of Service Is Back After Two-Year Break

More than 400 volunteers will be scattered across Jefferson City this weekend as Mission JC: A Day of Service makes its return after being put on hold for two years.

Eleven local churches, along with other volunteers, will join together to clean streams and highways, paint and plant, assemble mats and blankets, and say thank you to emergency personnel, among dozens of other service projects.

Participants will gather at 8:30 a.m. at Special Olympics Missouri for a brief commissioning service before dispersing throughout the city to engage in about three dozen projects.

Mission JC has been an annual event since 2013, until COVID caused the past two years to be canceled. “We are overjoyed to be back in 2022,” said Rev. Melissa Hatfield, founder of the event. “Our logo says that our goal is to be ‘in the city, for the city’ through acts of service. These volunteers love the people of Jefferson City and want to demonstrate that through various tangible projects.”

There are opportunities for all ages and families are encouraged to serve together.

More information about registering for projects can be found at missionjc.org.
