I’ve been waking up folks on the radio for the better part of 40 years. I’ve worked at stations in my native New Jersey (insert “Sopranos” joke here)……as well as Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, New York and too many other places to mention.

I arrived in Mid-Missouri in 2002 with my wife Donna and three kids in tow and decided that this is a pretty nice place to call home. I’m a rabid Philadelphia Eagles fan (yeah, I BLEED green) and also love my Phillies. I’m a proud nerd and get into anything computer or technology-related. And yes, I’ve even been to a couple of Star Trek conventions. Is it any wonder I didn’t date till I got to college?

LOVE my 3 grandsons and hardly ever miss a chance to tussle with them. I also have a Min pin/Min dachsund named Hamlet who provides us plenty of action and (occasionally) hair-pulling moments. Our Roxy is a Jack Russell Terrier mix who blended right into our family. Oh,  and a cat named Oreo.

If you dare, check out my scary HAIR picture from 1981…and YES, it’s real!

Some favorites of mine:

Movies
Favorite of all-time? Hands down, The Blues Brothers, Forrest Gump, Planes, Trains and AutomobilesThat Thing You Do!, The Ten Commandments, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Independence Day, The Sound Of Music, too many others…

TV shows
Breaking Bad (which I say is the greatest show in TV history), Mad MenThe Big Bang Theory, The Walking Dead and more I’m sure I’ve forgotten. I really like documentaries too, especially all the Ken Burns stuff.

Music
I don’t think there’s a George Strait song I don’t like. My musical tastes are pretty varied and I love everything from Frankie Valli to The Sound Of Music. Disco? 70’s? Oldies? Plus, I’m a Beatles NUT and a Classic Rock fan (Aerosmith, Stones, Foreigner). Also Billy Joel, Bruno Mars, Johnny Cash and too many others.

Food
If I could only have one meal for the rest of my life, I would probably pick spaghetti. I also love crabs, shrimp (especially grilled- mmmmm) and other seafood. Plus you can never go wrong with a big ‘ol steak (medium well, thank you). Can’t live without coffee, of course! My two favorite candies are Twizzlers and Starburst. I can also go through a box of Russell Stover caramels pretty quickly. Doritos (Cool Ranch) and brownies are great too. My favorite cookies are Oatmeal Raisin. I’m a fan of a good lager beer, specifically Boulevard Wheat and Blue Moon.

Random stuff
I’m Armenian on my mom’s side and Irish on my dad’s. I know- strange combination. People ask me, “Did your parents meet right off the boat or what?”

I love politics and if you have a couple hours, will be glad to tell you what I think.

My dream trip would be a couple weeks across Ireland and England.

I think you’ll like my Youtube channel. Got some interesting (some might say “strange”) stuff there.

Do I love what I do? As far as I’m concerned, there’s NO better way in the world to make a living!

I was born and raised in a little log cabin in Holts Summit. I kid you not, I couldn’t make this stuff up! I went to high school right here in Jefferson City. As far as when I graduated, mind yer biz! Go Jay Birds!

After high school, I had a menagerie of odd jobs, but this has been the best!

I love being a member of the KAT Country family! The fun atmosphere and the on-air banter make it an amazing place! This is my dream job!

Erin’s favorites:

Movies
I am a movie junkie, so this one is a little hard for me. My all-time favorite movie? It’s so hard to narrow it down. All of the Indiana Jones movies! I’m a big fan of all 80s movies as well! The Great Outdoors with John Candy, oh my gosh, so funny! I love anything funny or action-packed. Sixteen Candles “whatsahappenin’ hot stuff?” I am a sucker for Keanu Reeves, especially the John Wick series.

Music
As far as music goes, I like it all. I grew up listening to “old school” country like Johnny Cash, Hank Williams Jr., and Patsy Cline. I have big brothers that introduced me to the world of rock (Hello, Clint and Johnny!). Now I listen to just about anything. I like to keep an open mind when it comes to music.

Food
I’m a sucker for chocolate milk. Can I plug Central Diary here? I love going out for breakfast and usually do it every Sunday morning with the Husband and the family. Look in the booth behind you, you might see my smiling face behind a cup of coffee or possibly a mimosa.

I have a big, floofy dog named Gemma, which we adopted from the Jefferson City Animal Shelter in 2016, along with a whip-smart German Sheppard named Magnus that came into the family in 2023 that keeps me and the Husband on our toes! I am super close to my parents and brothers, enjoying spending my spare time with them and friends! I also love to travel, when time and finances allow. My goal is to visit all 50 states!

Thanks for taking the time to get to know a little about me!

  1. Why doesn’t the email work for Erin?

  2. How do you check your email? On a website or in an email program on your computer/phone/tablet?

  3. Hey Matt! I heard you on the radio this morning and thought, that’s Matt Sharp! Congrats! Versailles is proud.

  4. My mom made an awesome Spanish rice. My step dad didn’t care for it. Things he didn’t like while in the military he learn to cover up with bread and peanut butter. So that is what he would do when mom made Spanish rice. It was years before he finally told her why he did that.
