Wednesday, November 23: MRRL Bookmobile at the Mall
Catch the Missouri River Regional Library Bookmobile at their next stop at the Capital Mall in the lot between JC Penney and Hy-Vee on Wednesday, November 23rd from 11 to 1. They offer a full range of children’s & adult titles, including fiction & non-fiction, paperbacks, CDs, & DVDs. In addition, any title from their regular collection can be requested through the bookmobile & picked up at the appropriate stop. Want some more info? Visit mrrl.org.

Thursday, November 24th: Thanksgiving Day Pie Run
Start a new family tradition on Turkey Day with the Thanksgiving Day Pie Run! Choose a 5K Run/Walk or 10K. The 10K begins at 8:15 am, and the 5K at 8:30 am. The first 600 people registered will receive a free t-shirt. Certified by the USA Track and Field association, this is a fast and flat route! Start and finish at the Parks & Rec Multipurpose Building in North Jefferson City. Bring a canned food item to benefit the Samaritan Center. For more info, visit RunJeffCity.org

Thursday, December 1st: Mayor’s Tree Lighting Ceremony
Join the community for entertainment, refreshments, and a visit from Santa at the lighting of the Mayor’s Christmas Tree. Food trucks will also be on-site for food purchases as well. It’s a free event and it happens on Thursday, December 1st, at 5:30 pm at Rotary Centennial Park on Bolivar St. You’re also invited to bring non-perishable food items or unwrapped toys for the Salvation Army. Friday, December 2nd: Jefferson City Living Windows
Downtown Jefferson City windows will come alive for one of the community’s most treasured and favorite events! Thousands will stroll the streets and experience holiday cheer on Friday, December 2nd, from 6 PM-9 PM with the opening ceremony starting at 5:45 PM. Enjoy an evening with Santa, live Reindeer, The Polar Express, carolers, a live nativity, dancers, puppets, contests, food, beverages, and more! This is a free event.

Friday, December 2nd and Monday, December 5th: Governor’s Mansion Candlelight Tour
Enjoy the Missouri Governor’s Mansion residence in full holiday décor. Governor and First Lady Parson will meet and greet guests as they view the Mansion by candlelight, adorned with sparkling lights and lush greenery. Guests are also welcome to bring any new or unused toys to donate to the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation. Tours will be held from 6-9 pm on Friday. December 2nd and 6-8 pm on Monday, December 5th. This is a free event.

Saturday, December 3rd: Jefferson City Jaycees Christmas Parade
It’s a Jefferson City tradition! This year’s theme for The 83rd Annual Jefferson City Jaycees Christmas Parade is “A Musical Christmas” and will take place in Downtown Jefferson City, Missouri on Saturday, December 3rd, at 4:30 PM. The parade route is from High Street to Lafayette Street to Capitol Ave. Pick a spot and enjoy the fun! This is a free event.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Jefferson City
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Jefferson City require mentors, especially male role models. They have two different types of mentoring programs. The organization is looking for individuals who can be consistent friends to a child.  You can learn more and sign up to become a mentor by going online to bbbsjeffersoncity.org.

Donate or Volunteer at The Food Bank
The Food Bank for Central and Northeast Missouri relies heavily on donations and volunteers to operate efficiently. Through their partnership with Feeding America and local organizations, The Food Bank has incredible bulk purchasing power so they can do more with every dollar donated. American Red Cross Blood Drives
Donating blood makes a big difference in the lives of others. The American Red Cross is looking for healthy donors to help save lives and give blood by booking an appointment. Find an upcoming blood drive near you by going online to redcrossblood.org.
